TREATMENTS

Sports Massage - Rehabilitation

You have a specific injury which you wish to be addressed. This can be anything from tennis elbow to chronic pain.

The point of rehabilitation treatment is to address a specific injury or issue in your body.

  • Initial assessment to fully understand your injury.

  • Depending on the injury more frequent massages may be required.

Sports Massage - Maintenance

You do not have any injuries however you may have a few aches that you would like to be seen to.

Maintenance massage is the treatment for you! The point of a maintenance massage is to keep an eye on how your muscles are doing and try to address any imbalances before they cause problems.

  • Initial assessment to assess any muscle imbalances.

  • Maintenance massages are generally once a month.

Initial Assessment

To begin with we would go through an assessment in which I would assess your body for muscle imbalances, this would give an idea of where we need to start work.

We would then discuss your goals and what or where you would like to be physically upon the completion of your treatment.

I would assess the range of movement associated with the pain you are experiencing and treat the areas with deep tissue massage, trigger point release, muscle energy techniques (MET), myofascial cupping and IASTM.

After the treatment I will recommended stretches to do at home to help lengthen the muscles that are giving you the trouble.

Myofascial Cupping

Cups are applied to the skin, creating suction that lifts the skin and fascia away from the muscles. This suction helps release tension in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, by increasing blood flow bringing nutrients to the area and also allowing the fascia to move more freely.

Trigger point release
The application of sustained pressure for a long enough time to inactivate the trigger points. This in turn allows the muscle to relax, heal and function normally.

MET

Muscle Energy Technique involves the client actively contracting specific muscles against a counterforce provided by the therapist. After the contraction, the muscle is passively stretched to enhance mobility and flexibility.

STR

Soft tissue release involves applying pressure to a specific area of soft tissue (muscle, tendon, or fascia) while simultaneously moving the muscle or joint through its range of motion. This combination of tension and movement helps to lengthen muscles and release tension.

IASTM

IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) - the use of specialised tools, often referred to as scraping to increase blood flow to the area bringing with it oxygen and nutrients to assist with the healing process.

Deep Tissue Massage

This massage is designed to target the layers of muscle and connective tissue, using deep pressure to eliminate tension, knots and adhesions.

Perfect for those who suffer from chronic pain or stiffness due to stress, overuse, or injury, this massage is a great myofascial release, helps improve circulation, and improve mobility.
